The new statistical rhetoric of climate change

Intellectual honesty can be a harrowing thing in our culture of insta-pundits and scorched-earth rhetoric. Before posting Engber's analysis of the latest IPCC report, I hesitated, knowing that the climate-change doubters will see it as evidence of a great politically-motivated "swindle."

On the contrary, his critique points out just how badly the political climate in the US over the past 20 years has distorted the research and pushed scientists to adopt some dubious tactics to quantify their conclusions. It's worth reading, especially for the majority that understands the crisis we all face.

For more on the report, check out Bill McKibben's review from Foreign Policy: http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4585.
